1. Introduction

Welcome to RateEngine, a platform that connects consumers and shops. By creating a consumer account on RateEngine, you agree to follow the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms apply to all user s who register as consumers, and are governed by applicable laws of Sri Lanka.

2. Account Creation and Eligibility

Only individuals who are 18 years or older can create a consumer account.

Each consumer is allowed to create only one account. Multiple or fake accounts are strictly prohibited.

Account registration requires a valid email address or mobile number. Verification is mandatory.

Consumers are prohibited from using any false, misleading, or stolen identity or photographs during registration or afterward.

RateEngine reserves the right to suspend or delete any account found to be in violation of this policy, without prior notice.

3. Account Usage

Consumers can rate shops, leave comments, and upload photographs relating to their experiences. All comments and ratings must be honest, respectful, and free from abusive, defamatory, or harmful content Consumers can add shops to their favorites list to receive updates on promotions and events. Any inappropriate or misleading content may be reported by the shop, and will be reviewed by RateEngine's moderation team. If a report is found to be valid, RateEngine has the authority to remove the content or suspend the account.

4. Data Privacy and Responsibility

All data entered by consumers is their own responsibility. Consumers must ensure the accuracy and legality of their content. RateEngine does not sell or share user data with third parties, except when legally required by court order or Sri Lankan law enforcement agencies. Consumers must not collect or misuse personal data from other users or shops.

5. Content Ownership and Restrictions

Consumers retain ownership of the content they upload but grant RateEngine the right to use, display, and moderate it. Uploading copyrighted materials, stolen images, or using photos of other people without consent is strictly prohibited. Fake ratings, fake shops, or impersonation may result in permanent account suspension and possible legal action.

6. Account Termination and Deletion

Consumers may choose to temporarily deactivate or permanently delete their accounts at any time from their profile settings. Once deleted, all associated data may be removed permanently and cannot be recovered. RateEngine reserves the right to terminate or suspend accounts at its sole discretion, especially in cases of rule violations.

7. Refunds and Payments

The consumer platform is currently 100% free for all users. In the event that charges are introduced in the future, all payments are non-refundable under any circumstance.

8. Legal Compliance and Disputes

RateEngine operates under the legal framework of Sri Lanka's ICT Act, Consumer Protection Act, and relevant data privacy laws. If any party is harmed due to misuse of this app, RateEngine will support legal processes and investigations.

9. Changes to Terms

RateEngine may update or revise these Terms and Conditions at any time. Users will be notified through the app or email. Continued use of the account after changes means you accept the new terms.

10. Final Note

RateEngine is built to support positive, transparent connections between shops and consumers. As a user, you are expected to act with honesty, respect, and responsibility. Violation of these terms can lead to removal from the platform and potential legal consequences.
